Many support our organization, its programs and services because of the extensive use of volunteers who are either parents of Alabamians with disabilities or individuals with disabilities themselves.  This has resulted in a very cost-effective assistance service that helps families care for their loved ones within the community.  It also reduces Alabamians' dependence on state-run institutions and nursing homes that receive funding from Medicaid or Medicare.
